The 'Not Yet, Fall' Pumpkin

 That's right, my friends.

It is still August.

Hot and humid.

You know, the Dog Days of Summer?

That being said, there will be no mums, orange pumpkins, colored leaves, or pumpkin spice anything until after Labor Day.

It's the rule - around here anyway!

In honor of that rule, I created the 'Not Yet, Fall' pumpkin.
Welcome to the Creative Craft Hop hosted by Sara from Birdz of a Feather.   If you just came from Donna @ Modern Monticello, welcome to the Cottage.  At the bottom of this post I'll direct you to the next stop on this hop, but be sure to visit all of the other stops too for some amazing inspiration. They will all be listed.  Now on to this project...

The orange styrofoam pumpkins from the dollar store are such a staple for the DIY/Crafty community. I started by painting one with white chalk paint leftover from my Not Just an Ashtray Stand project. I then sprayed it with clear sealer.
Since the center was a bit chopped-up, I also flipped it over, putting this part on the bottom.

I knew it would need a pretty stem, so I pulled out some of my pumpkin stem supply.
I always save the stems of my pumpkins for future projects and here's little tip regarding pumpkin stems - choose pumpkins that have pretty or interesting stems.  I love the little twist at the top of this one!
After painting, it was hot glued to the top of the pumpkin.
A silk rose was added by making a hole with the stem and then adding a little hot glue.
Then some purple flowers were added in the same manner.
A little self-adhesive bling was added to finish-off the look.
I somehow think it looks like the pumpkin on its way to becoming Cinderella's carriage.
The most important thing?  It's not Fall yet!

I hope you'll pin, share, comment, and follow.  If you click on those 3 little lines at the top left of the blog (on the Home page), you'll see where to find me...or click on the icon below to share.

Remember, this is a blog hop so it's time to visit Terrie @ Decorate & More With Tip. Once you've stopped by to see her, be sure to visit all of the others for more inspiration!  Here's the list:

    1. For me, Fall starts after Labor Day. That's Back-to-School time around here and it always represented the end of Summer. I'll have to stop by and see if you make it until the 22nd!

  15. This is adorable! The flower is the perfect size and makes the pumpkin look like a vase/pumpkin. I couldn't help myself. I had to break out some of the fall decor, but I'm using pinkish purple, mint, and mustard yellow as the color scheme, so it's still very much late summer. I just had to have a few pumpkins. It never matters down here what the temperature is because it'll still be around 80 at Thanksgiving lol. Love this pumpkin- pinned! Happy hopping & thanks for sharing on Crafty Creators!
