The Apple Street Cottage

  Hello, Everyone!  It's almost Halloween and I thought I'd add a little bit of 'spooky' to my decor.   Just a little ! It all started at the dollar store where I spotted these napkins: I remembered I had a jar that's been hanging around the craft room for quite a long time.  You may remember it from my Chair Back Shelf project . It worked great as a vase for a silk rose, but it was time for a change...and  decoupage . I took one of those napkins and separated the layers.  Having just a single layer is very important if you want your napkin to stay in place. Mod Podge was applied to the jar... ...and the napkin was placed on it. Some plastic wrap smoothed out any wrinkles. Since the jar curved at the top and I wanted to preserve that spider, I cut the top of the napkin into strips.  No Mod Podge was applied to that curve at this point. There I was, running into the dollar store to grab some kitchen sponges.  I didn't need anything else until I saw these: My first thought was, "Oh, how pretty!"  My next thought?  "What will I do with them?" Then I turned the corner... ..and an idea was born! This post may contain affiliate links This Easter egg cut out was just screaming for decoupage, and that's exactly what it got.  The wood was a veneer over MDF and s ince the napkins were mostly white,  two coats of white craft paint were applied. Once completely dry, two coats of Mod Podge were brushed on.  The first coat was allowed to dry completely before the second coat was applied. While waiting for coat #2 of Mod Podge to dry, I separated the layers of my napkins.  You only want one layer when you use them for decoupage. Place your napkin(s) on the surface of the dry Mod Podge and then lay a piece of parchment paper over the napkin.   Using the medium setting, iron over the parc...

Now, let's talk about this sweet little doll dresser.  It was hand-made and with the mirror, was about 14 inches tall.  The paint had seen better days, so I removed the points holding the mirror, removed it and the frame.
