Chicken Noodle Soup

Oh the weather outside is frightful....at least it is here, and there's nothing like homemade soup to warm you up.  It's Ten on the 10th again and our theme is 'Keeping Warm'.  Thank you to Terrie from Decorate & More With Tip for hosting.  Let's make some soup, shall we?
This is a crockpot recipe, so in addition to the crockpot, this is what you'll need:
3 stalks of celery - diced
4 carrots - peeled & diced
1 medium onion
3 cloves of garlic - minced
2 bay leaves
48 oz. container of chicken broth
1 cup of water
1 tsp. of sage
salt & pepper to taste
2 boneless chicken breasts - about a pound

Not shown:
parsley for garnish
egg noodles

Add all ingredients (except the egg noodles) to the crockpot and cook on low for 6 hours.
Remove chicken breasts, shred...
...and return to crockpot.  Sprinkle some parsley for color.
While the soup continues to cook, prepare your egg noodles according to the package directions.  You could add them directly to the soup, but I didn't for two reasons.
1.  My crockpot was full!
2.  I always have leftovers, and the egg noodles tend to turn to mush the second day.

When the egg noodles are cooked, add a scoop of them to a bowl and a scoop (or 2) of soup to them.
Dinner is served!

It's Ten on the 10th, so be sure to visit my friends at their blogs and see how they keep warm!

  1. Oh this looks delicious Ann! So sorry I couldn't join you this month for the hop, but I am certainly going to make this soup...maybe today. No snow here, but it's grey, cold and pouring. Soup sounds perfect.

We haven't had much of a winter in NJ this year. With all the clouds and dreary weather this is good for the soul.
