Dollar Store Pumpkins - 4 Ways!

We've all seen (and purchased) those lovely bright orange styrofoam pumpkins at the dollar store.  Let me show you their true potential with very little effort or time, starting at the top-left and going clockwise.
Don't let the picture fool you.  That's not yarn or a sweater.  It's a dollar store mop.
If you don't have an old sweater or you don't knit or crochet, this project is for you.  The 'Sweater-Look' Pumpkin is easy and will take less than an afternoon to complete.

I love the jewel-tone color of this pumpkin.  Some corduroy fabric creates a
Purple Pumpkin that adds a little 'glam' to your Fall decorating.

It's a Halloween Pumpkin speaks for itself.  It's another quick and easy project.  If you can't find the fabric, no worries.  I offer some alternatives that will work just as well.

The 'Not Yet, Fall' Pumpkin was my answer to all the pumpkins I started seeing in August.  Honestly, August is still Summer in my world, so I dressed up that orange pumpkin in true Cinderella Style!

Two more tips before wrapping-up this post:

1. Save you real pumpkin stems!  I do this every year after Halloween and Thanksgiving.  Just cut them off and let them dry.  You'll have a great collection in no time at all for projects.  Need more?  Ask your friends and neighbors to save them for you!

2. In case you haven't been in the dollar store this season, they now have styrofoam pumpkins in white.  That sure offers more possibilities for creativity!

I hope I've inspired you to use some styrofoam pumpkins in your decorating.  Here are the links one more time:

  1. All of your dollar store pumpkins are very pretty! And of course, the purple pumpkin is my favorite, lol! I love your suggestions for saving real pumpkin stems but some of us - (I) don't do real pumpkins. Instead, I've found a way to create stems using air dry clay. But nothing beats the real thing!

  10. They are all lovely Ann, I especially like the "sweater look" one. I do knit and crochet myself but I'd still be tempted to give this a try, I think they way you've done it is so clever!
