The Kitchen Shelf - Halloween Style

It's been a crazy weather week around here.  We've had temperatures in the 50s, which is normal for this time of year, but then we had a couple of mid- to upper-70s days.  We're now back to cooler temperatures, I guess we'll call it Indian Summer!  How's the weather in your part of the world?
When we first bought our current cottage, I shared some pictures of the kitchen.  One suggestion was to remove the shelf above the sink, but now that we've lived here a few months, I'm glad I didn't.  You see, even though this is an old house, it has no built-in shelving that is always great for decorating.  Therefore, I'm happy to have this space in the kitchen that can be changed seasonally.  Let's take a closer look:
This space is just above the sink.  Here's the picture from right before we moved in:
You can see it on the left.
My goal this year is to spend no money on my fall decorating.  So far, I've achieved it, except for purchasing some mums, but I justify that purchase by knowing they will be overwintered and planted in my gardens in the Spring.
Let's have a closer look at what I used...
I've had this sign for years.  It used to hang outside my classroom and later in my office.  It was perfect for this spot.
This little witch bobs up and down when a breeze blows by.  I also have a ghost that hangs in the dining room.
I starting making the cats a couple of years ago when I first started using a jigsaw.  You can read more about them HERE.
This adorable candy dish was a gift from a student one of my last years in the classroom.
It's a little difficult to see, but this is a wooden pumpkin bowl that I've had for at least 25 years.  I filled it with some fall silk flowers and wrapped a leaf garland around it.
I also added two small grapevine wreaths that I made to the glass doors.  I'll show how they were made, attached and decorated in  a future post...hint:  It was REALLY easy!

Thanks for stopping by the Cottage.  Don't forget to link up your projects every Tuesday evening at Party In Your PJs.  There's still time to link up this week...go HERE.

Have a wonderful weekend!
