Christmas at the Cottage
๐Christmas Time is Here๐....can you hear the song from 'A Charlie Brown Christmas'? I read that the lyrics were written to capture the blend of melancholy and hope from the special.
Hmmm, almost 60 years later and still so relevant.
Christmas has come to the Cottage....
The wreath is on the door.
It's a live wreath that I dressed up with velvet ribbon and some things from a former wreath that was taken apart.

They are battery-powered with dusk-to-dawn sensors. I'm impressed since they've been in the windows since Thanksgiving and I haven't had to change the batteries.
The kitchen window has this little lamp found on Marketplace.
Yes, the windows are a hot mess. This was a rental house and new windows are on the list.
Sadly, Santa will not be bringing them this year.
Maybe in 2026...
My upcycled cutting board is now adorned with a little Christmas tree.
A paper mache house that I made years ago is our table centerpiece.
My vintage Advent calendar and Santas came out to stand with my Glass Christmas Tree collection.
The Winter Scene Lightbox that I rescued and repaired is lit up.
And the tree is decorated.
The ornament I made in 2nd grade:
An ornament made by a childhood friend's disabled Dad:
Gifts from students:
I still remember the boy who gave this to me. He made sure to tell me he picked out the color and his Mom made it.
Ornaments that remind us of places we've lived:
And places we've vacationed.
So many memories.
Our tree may not be trending, but it's full of memories.
Just the way I like it.
Whatever you celebrate, I want to wish you peace and joy this holiday season.
Join me in January, won't you?

Nice ornaments, not sure about those weird Santa's...one looks mad, the other looks like he just saw a ghost

DeleteYou mentioned your tree may not be trending Ann, but I adore it. I am a firm believer trees should hold memories, not what is in style. We didn't get around to putting our tree up, but I look forward to every year pulling out each and every one of those memories. My mom, aunt, and grandparents made many ornaments over the years for us. I always smile when I think back to those times in my life, the Smurf ornament, the Miss Piggy, the Cookie Monster, Big Bird... they all hold memories and times throughout my childhood that hold meaning to me. Sorry to go on a rant, just wanted to put that out there. Everything looks curated to the vintage loving heart you are. Love it all. Hope you had a Merry Christmas, and 2026 holds new memories and better times. Hugs!
