Dough Bowl Decorating for Winter
Happy New Year! I'm back for a new year of 'Just My Style'. It's that time of year when everyone is talking about Resolutions, Color of the Year, and Upcoming Trends. My answer to all of that is: Nope, Nope, and Nope! I've always steered completely away from all of that. I gave up on New Year Resolutions in my early 20's and believe me, that was a long time ago! Color of the Year? Who cares? I use colors I like. And upcoming trends...hmmm, there's never been a buffalo check, tiered tray, or shiplap wall in my home. I decorate with the things I love giving me a very eclectic style that suits me, and, isn't that what it's all about? Do what makes you happy and surround yourself with the things you love! That being said, lets move on....
Christmas is packed away for another year at the Cottage and there are still a few more months until Spring, so I decided to do a little winter decorating with my mini dough bowl. You may remember this fabulous yard sale find from last summer. Honestly, I'm not really sure it even IS a dough bowl. The bottom isn't flat, it's small. but I liked it - especially for a dollar!
You don't need much for this little project:
- Dough bowl*
- Bottle brush trees - I had mine, but here are some good choices
- Polyester Poly-fill
- Battery-operated fairy lights
- Museum putty or Sticky Putty
The first step is placing the fairy lights inside the bowl. I used a little Sticky Putty to keep them in place.
Then I covered the lights with some Poly-fill.
Nestle the trees in the Poly-fill.
Turn on the lights!
The craft room table is not the best place for display, so.....
It looks lovely, Ann! I think that bowl was a great score. It's so pretty and versatile. Perfect for winter. Happy New Year!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kim. Last night it looked the same as the view outside my window. It's still snowing here!

Thank you so much!
DeleteI am with you on this - no color, new resolutions! I do it as and when it happens and enjoy what I am doing. It may not be what others do, but I do not imitate others and do it the best I can and love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for participating and sharing at SSPS 292. See you again next week!

Thank you so much, Paula!
DeleteYour dough bowl is lovely with the fairy lights, bottle brush trees and "snow." I decorate for winter with snowmen and snow globes. I have a collection of snow globes I use and, this year, I decorated a snowman tree after I took the Christmas decorations down. Enjoyed your post!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Debbie. After Christmas, we need a 'little something' to brighten up the winter days and nights, don't we?
DeleteThis is so cute, I love it! I love bottle brush trees though. :)
ReplyDeleteSo do I! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteAnn, very cute! Love the lights that you added. Thank you for sharing it with us at The Crazy Little Love Birds link party #20.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Stephanie. It's pretty on these cold, winter nights!
DeleteI love the way you are like NOPE... I agree, trends come and go, make your home you. This is an adorable idea Ann. It looks like snow, and the glow from the lights reminds of me of those perfect nights playing in the snow with our pup. So much fun!
ReplyDeleteI've never been a follower, Cara. It's better to do what you love!
