Denim Cuff Bracelets

I spent last week deep-cleaning my craft room.  That was an adventure!  Now (almost) everything is organized and I know what I have in all the boxes and containers.  Denim is one of the things I have in abundance, so it's time to get started on some new projects.  First up?  Denim Cuff Bracelets.

Welcome to the Creative Craft Hop hosted by Sara from Birdz of a Feather.  If you just came from Jenna at The Painted Apron, welcome to the Cottage!  At the bottom of this post I'll direct you to the next stop on this hop, but be sure to visit all of the other stops too for some amazing inspiration. They will all be listed.

I found some old jeans that had these great cuffs and decided to start with them.  Here's one:
To deal with the raw edges on either end, I attached some seam binding.
Some vintage lace was sewn to either side of the cuff.
So far, so good!
Velcro was sewn on either end so this bracelet would be easy to put on and take off.
And it was done...
...Or so I thought.  It was a little 'plain' so I found a little bling to dress it up!
Much Better!

But, I wasn't done.  Two legs mean two cuffs!
For the second one, I decided to have a button and loop closure.  I grabbed an elastic hair tie and cut it in half.
After sliding it inside the cuff, it was stitched
I also added some anti-fray to the raw edges.
A button was added to the other end.

Next, I measured and cut a strip of floral fabric 1/2" wide and 12" long with one edge frayed and basted along the un-frayed edge.
It was gathered and stitched into a circle/flower.
A button was stitched into the middle, attaching it and the flower to the cuff. A single button was stitched on either side.
Cuff #2 was now complete.
Two easy denim projects!

I can't decide which one is my favorite!

Remember, this is a blog hop so it's time to visit Allyson at Southern Sunflowers. Once you've stopped by to see her, be sure to visit all of the others for more inspiration!  Here's the list:

  1. These are both so pretty Ann but I especially love the bling on the first one. I just recently found an almost exact lace at my mom's house as we were cleaning out so that's now in my craft studio. I'm due for a deep clean too and can't wait to try this!

    1. I guess you'll be sharing some lace project then? Cleaning out the craft room was the best. Two large bags of stuff went in the trash, some others were gifted, and everything is organized. Now I'm ready to get started on a few projects that have been waiting for me!

    1. Thank you, Jenna. I think if I had to make a ton of them, I'd get bored and wouldn't be fun anymore! If you know anyone who wants one, though, send them my way!

  5. Your denim cuff bracelets are so adorable, Ann! I believe you've created the next big trend! While they are certainly great for anyone to wear, imagine all the teeny boppers wearing these with their jeans attire! So cool!

  14. Ann, these are so cute! Being a short gal, I always have cuffs that are left over from my pants. I always wanted to do something with them, but I never thought of bracelets! How clever, and even though I do not sew, I think I can do this one. Thank you for sharing with Whimsy Home Wednesday!
