This & That - Summer 2022
I haven't written a This & That post since last November. Time sure does fly, so let's catch up a bit!
As you may already know, we sold our house last Fall. The market was working in our favor and the stairs were becoming a problem between my knees and my vertigo. We are living in an apartment and still are unsure of our next move. There's a lot going on - the economy, the housing market, 'knee stuff', etc. Stay tuned. If anything big happens, I'll let you know!
On with the rest of the news....
In May, we went to the Tulip Festival.
The tulips were gorgeous!
We also visited the bridge where we were married.
With Yard Sale Season upon us I shared a post with my 'top tips' in the Ultimate Yard Sale Guide. Be sure to check it out if you missed it.
I've been to a few sales already and since space is at a premium right now, I'm concentrating on 'smalls'. Here's a peek at a few treasures I've found:
I can't wait to show you how I upcycled this very humble ashtray stand. The 'Do It Over' Designers Blog Hop is coming up on the 23rd so be sure to stop back and see the transformation!
Update: Not Just an Ashtray Stand has been published.
Here are a few other 'smalls' I found:
The Recipe Cabinet has already been upcycled and the tarnished pan/mold is on my kitchen wall next to the Menu Board. The three little crocks have been planted with baby Pilea plants which are multiplying like rabbits around here. If you'd like a new plant, let me know. I'll send you one!
Enamelware was the theme of this yard sale outing:
The coffee pot has a large melted candle in it. Don't worry, I've got a plan for that! That lid sitting front and center doesn't match, but the woman threw it in for free. The pot is now the proud owner of a lavender plant.
So far, my favorite find is this one:
I've wanted one for a long time, but being such a cheap I mean, thrifty gal, I didn't want to pay the retail price. I could feel the machine oil on it and the manual was with it...for $75 I couldn't pass it up!
Although that IS a favorite, there is also this:
Don't you love the Mr. T gold chains that came with her?
I've got my work cut out for me and I need to get to work on her. Wish me luck, this one's going to be a challenge!
UPDATE: She's been transformed!
We recently visited Grant's Cottage.
The view was amazing!
We've also been visiting local restaurants and breweries. Sorry, no pics. I was busy eating and drinking!
The Feeder Canal Towpath Trail is a great place to take a walk...
...and the local park hosts free concerts every Friday night. This one was Big Band and Jazz Orchestra Night.
And, there were fireworks for the 4th:
Other than that, there's not much else to report. How's your summer going?
I'll bet you had a beautiful wedding. The bridge and the surrounding area is very picturesque.
ReplyDeleteGreat score on the mixer.
If you are serious about giving the plant-lets away I would like to have a couple - I'll be happy to pay postage.
Thanks,
Sheila
It was a beautiful day and the perfect spot for a wedding. Send me your mailing info, Sheila and I'll get some plants out to you!
DeleteI would love love love to have a little plant, too. Not sure I have seen any in stores/nurseries around here and I love all the pictures of them that I see online.
ReplyDeleteSend me your mailing address, Patty. I'll put them in the mail for you!
DeleteIt sounds like you’ve been busy enjoying life! I’ll be interested in seeing how you've up-cycled your new acquisitions!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying, Zenda! I started work on the dress form today....Oh, what a mess!

I bet your wedding was beautiful. That bridge is awesome. Great finds, especially the mixer. You have quite the project there with the dress form. Happy summer. Thank you for sharing at Love Your Creativity.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. It was the perfect spot for a wedding. I'm getting started on the dress form and she is a challenge!
DeleteLooks like you have been having a fabulously well rounded summer! I love all your finds and can't wait until the hop to see the big makeover reveal. Enjoy the week!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kim. We're trying to make the most of summer since it's so short. Hope the renovations are all moving along!
DeleteSo many great finds. I love repurposed decor.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Meagan. I love to take old things and make them new again!
DeleteThe bridge looks like a fabulous place for a wedding. I'm sure it was beautiful. Lots of great finds, I have never seen a cigar stand, it will be an awesome project. I have a bigger project I'm working on and hope to get it done by the 23rd for the Designers Blog Hop. Not sure if it is open to all bloggers or just the designers.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Judy. The bridge was just perfect for our wedding. The 'Do It Over' Designers blog hop is a group of bloggers who come together every other month to share projects that involve recycling/upcycling. It is a closed group, but I will stop by your blog to see what you've been working on!
DeleteThank you for sharing your treasures on Farmhouse Friday! I have an enamel pot like yours that I now want to put a plant in! And I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the little tea pot since mine is just sitting on a shelf collecting dust. ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cindy. Lavender just seemed perfect for that pot. As for the other one, I got the candle out...moving on!
DeleteLove those tulips Ann and always glad to have a chance to catch up with you! Thanks for joining us at Inspire Me Monday at Create With Joy! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteThose tulips are lovely! Best of luck remaking the dress form and fixing it up; my mom is a seamstress so we had a few dress forms in various sizes throughout our house.
ReplyDeleteGreat finds! Especially the mixer! Thanks for sharing on Sundays on Silverado. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Niki!
