Fall Decor With Yard Sale Finds

I know what you're thinking...seriously, Ann, how many yard sale finds can you show us?  This one is too good to pass up and I PROMISE to tie some of it into Fall Decor.  Ready?  Here we go.....

I've been to three different sales recently, the most recent one was an estate sale that I just happened to see as we were driving.  It was the last hour of the last day and there wasn't much left.  As we walked through the dining room, the table had a few knick knacks, pictures and this beautiful Towle fruit bowl.  It's a 10", silver-plated bowl that had a price of 1 dollar.
It came home with me, where it was treated to a little silver polish and a good washing...and since I promised Fall Decor....I filled it with some silk flowers!
Look at me, decorating for Fall when the first day of Fall hasn't even arrived yet!

The next sale was listed on a local garage sale site.  The man had some great antiques, but the prices were a bit high for my budget.  I spied this little container sitting on a table for $2 and just knew I had to have it.
There was quite a bit of discussion on my facebook page about what it was.  After some research, I'm pretty sure it's a tobacco container.  The finish is a little rough, but I have plans for it.  I promise you'll see it again in an upcoming post.

I'm saving the best for last.....................I discovered this sale on the local garage sale site on the afternoon of the last day.  The pictures were amazing, but, let's face it, on the afternoon of the last day, there wasn't going to be much left.  Ever the optimist, I looked at my husband and said, 'Let's go!"  And I was SO glad I did!
See this picture?  I got EVERYTHING in it for $5!
The woman running the sale was cleaning out her mother-in-laws house.  She was a crafter and I can't imagine what was there on the first two days.  I asked her about the wood and she handed me the white bin and told me to start filling it.
Let's take a closer look, starting at the bottom right and going clockwise.  There are about 10 wood strips that I use for various pallet projects.  Next to them are 8 battery-operated tea lights.  Next to the tea lights are a package of screw eyes, followed by a package of wood buttons, a package of velcro, and some sandpaper leaning on the white bin.  All of it unopened.
Continuing on, the small container had some small wood pieces that I really wasn't interested in, but it also had several saw-tooth hangers. I also wanted the container to organize my nails and screws. Above that is a plastic shoebox(with lid) of wine corks.  Behind the white bin are 5 sheets of luan.  In it, as you can see are many pieces of wood, some still in the plastic from the store.  I probably should have asked for another bin and filled that one too, but I really picked out the wood that I wanted and was happy. I'm pretty sure this was my best buy of the entire yard sale season.

Because I'm so excited ( I just got these on Thursday) I have two more things to show you....found online for $15 each:

And did I mention the woman delivered them to my house????  Crazy, right?  I need to get some 'hustle in my bustle' to get them finished before the weather gets cold.  Man, am I going to be busy!

And did I mention I started a little Fall decorating?  I guess the operative word is 'little'.  I'll do better, I promise!

I hope you'll pin, share, comment, and follow.  If you click on those 3 little lines at the top left of the blog, you'll see where to find me...or click on the icon below to share.

  4. Ann, you found some great buys. I'm a silver fan, and that bowl for a $1 is amazing. Can't believe it was sill there. I pick up silver pieces too, but now find I have a closet full. I need to get in there and edit out what I really don't use. I spend yesterday polishing silver that I have out in various rooms.
