Pig Gets a Facelift

This may qualify as a "DIY Fail" and I've been laughing since I (almost) finished the project.  This napkin holder has been in our home for almost 30 years and was definitely in need of a remake.
So, it got a good cleaning, two coats of pink chalk paint, and a little distressing on the edges.  It was at this point that I discovered painting facial features in NOT my forte! Things went fine with the nostrils, the highlights on the ears, and, OK with the mouth.  Then came the eyes...I immediately started laughing when I added the big round white eyes and added pupils.  He looked shocked.  Then I added the eyebrows.... and he immediately looked angry.
The laughter continued as I showed my husband, who immediately said, "He needs a moustache".  Seriously?  Where the h*ll am I going to paint that????  He decided, right under the snout and since I didn't want to add it with paint, I cut one with my Cricut for 'trysies'.
My husband says his name is now Luigi!

So, dear readers, will you help me out?  Should I change the eyes to just plain, small dots?  Should I keep the moustache?  Or, should a scrap the whole idea and try a whole new face?

Please leave your thoughts in the comments.  Luigi's life is in your hands...

I hope you'll pin, share, comment, and follow.  If you click on those 3 little lines at the top right of the blog, you'll see where to find me!

  2. If I were you I'd paint the eyes back exactly as they were. It looks like that's what you were going for but lighter since he's now pink? But the white dots and streaks in his eyes are supposed to represent the light hitting them so I say just like it was!

  3. Pupils should fill most of the "whites" space. Then add comma-shaped "glare" spots both at 2 o'clock or 10 o'clock near the tops of the pupils like the original had. Good luck getting them the same shape/size. Don't ask me hhow I know this! You might add a short lash line (top lashes) extending from the outer edges. A fine tipped marker is ideal for lashes. Luigi is a great name is you are keeping the mustache!
