This & That and a New Cottage!

Hello, my friends!  It's been a while and even though I've been very busy, not a whole lot of it has been blog-worthy.

Why, you ask?

We bought a house!

It's a small house but it will be BIG on blog posts when I share everything that goes into making it our own. It was a rental property and there are a few things that need to be 'taken care of".

Here's a peek at the kitchen:
Before you ask, yes, that's a dishwasher to the left of the stove.  Interesting, right?  Never fear, there's a story and a solution coming up in a later post.

There are also some interesting colors that need attention:
It may not show in photos, but this color is actually 'popsicle green'.

The bathroom also needs a few 'fixes' so stay tuned for those updates, won't you?

In addition to dealing with paint and a few other projects, I've been a bit busy doing this:
Over 50 boxes packed here and another 40+ in the living room.

In spite of being buried in boxes, I did manage to snag a couple of things on Prime Day.
We use our bread machine all the time and it was getting a bit tired. I also grabbed a new filtered water dispenser.  Did you do any shopping on Prime Day?

Speaking of shopping, yard/estate sale season has been a bit disappointing this year (TONS of clothes), but I did manage to find a few new treasures.  This little cheese box caught my eye on Marketplace:
For a $1.50 I didn't care about the fact that the bottom was removed instead of the top and it had silver paint on the end.  Hello Citristrip - Goodbye silver paint!  Did I take a picture?  Nope!  And it's packed in one of those boxes right now.  Don't worry, it will reappear in the future!
I also got this box - for a $1.50:
It's all wood and also packed right now.
I managed to score a couple of pieces of glass for making another Glass Bowl Christmas Tree and, you guessed it, no pictures and they're packed!  Clearly, I've had a few other things on my mind!

Yesterday, my husband (aka the Enabler) and I went to barn sale and an antique store that was going out of business.  Apparently the barn sale had been going on for a while and sadly, we were a bit late to the party.  Even so, I managed to find 2 sets of 4 (very pretty) salad plates for a total of $4.
I love the lattice-like cutouts on this set.
A few chips and a crack on one of these plates - not a problem when I got the set for $2.
(see the original price?)

Next, we headed to the antique store that had some fabulous things - but high prices.  I spotted this little clock partially hidden on a shelf.
I loved it as soon as I saw it and knew my husband would too, although neither one of us loved the price of $65.
So what does he do?  He takes a $20 bill out of his wallet, holds up the clock and the the 20 to the owner and says, "You'll probably throw me out but...will this buy it?"  She asked what the original price was and he laughed and said he didn't want to tell her that now (but he did).  She thought for approximately 10 seconds and said, "Yes".
Who doesn't love a vintage Art Deco clock?  And, yes, it works!  It's called a Big Ben Moonbeam Clock and they even make a reproduction of it.

So that's been 'life lately' around here and why things have been so quiet on the blogging front.  New posts are coming, I promise!  It's just the packing, moving, and unpacking all takes time.

Be sure to come back on the 26th for 'Do It Over' Designers blog hop I host.  I made some time to create two sweet makeovers for you to see. The theme is 'Lighting' and this team always has the best ideas for you!

See you soon!!!!!

  7. Ooo, congrats on the move, what a busy busy time for you! Our last house had the dishwasher next to the oven, it was one of those little slimline dishwashers and that was the only place it could fit so we made it work!
Good luck with the boxes, hope you find the bottom of the pile soon.

    1. Thank you, Kim. I'm wondering if a disappointing yard sale season may be due the fact that anything I buy will need to be packed!? lol
