Valentine Envelope

I seem to be 'on a roll' with Valentine's Day projects this year, so here I am with one more you can easily complete before the big day!
Isn't this the sweetest little Valentine Envelope Greeting?  I take no credit for the pattern but you can find it here.  I turned it into a Valentine project even though it's advertised as a Christmas Greeting.
Let's get started on the details.

What you'll need:

First, get the pattern!
Use the pattern to cut your pieces.
Please ignore the fact that there are two pink felt pieces.  I originally thought I'd like it a little thicker, but it was too bulky.  Learn from my mistakes, friends!

Fold under a 1/4" hem on the patterned lining fabric and then center it on the felt.
Pin it in place.
Blanket stitch around it leaving the bottom open.
Slide the chipboard piece in.
NOTE:  I made one modification.  I trimmed 1/4" from the bottom of the chipboard piece to allow more room for stitching.
Stitch the bottom closed and then stitch around the felt piece.  Notice I only stitched around the two top edges.  The rest will be hidden once the envelope is complete.

Fold the two sides in and stitch in the middle.
Remember, this is an envelope so don't stitch into the patterned fabric.
Now bring the bottom piece up.
You can pin this in place!
Blanket stitch the piece in place.
Your Valentine Envelope is ready to be be filled!

We all love sweets on Valentine's Day, but what happens after they're gone?  That envelope is going to look pretty empty, so make some felt flowers for 'after the sweets are gone'.
Some rolled flowers were cut on my Maker.
They were rolled and hot glued on a skewer along with a few hand-cut leaves.
Now that sweet Valentine Envelope can be displayed a little longer!

P.S.  I also added a teeny bit of fiberfill to the inside of the pocket to fill it out.

Are you wondering about that extra piece of felt I cut?  You guessed it, I made another one!
These little envelopes can be used for so many occasions. In addition to Valentine's Day, there's Christmas, Mother's Day, Birthdays - you name it!  Wouldn't this make a perfect gift card holder?

For now, I'm ready to share the love on Valentine's Day!  How about you?

I am wondering if I can pull off this stitch since you know, I can't seem to sew... it's on the list, I hope I get to it this year. ha.
