 Halloween will be here before you know it and I have a fun sign to get in the 'spirit' of the season.

It all started with the back of my Lemonade Sign.  I found the blank sign in the free pile at a yard sale and I love the Lemonade side, but the back was looking rather...shall we say....boring.  Time to give it a makeover and have a 2-sided sign!  
So, I gave it a quick coat of white paint for a base.
Some black and gray paint was sponged on and...
...I immediately hated it!
Isn't that awful?

So I sanded it off, leaving some of the white and a purple 'frame'.
Wanting a distressed look, I applied some black paint and antiquing medium with a rag.
Finally, getting somewhere!

Time for the actual sign.  Off to Design Space to choose the font, size, and any little extras!  Cut it on my Cricut Maker with stencil film and got everything weeded.
Applied it to the sign...
...and started painting.
If you've been around here for a while, you know the trick is several light coats with a stencil brush to prevent the paint from bleeding.
Once painted, remove the stencil.
Weed out those center pieces.
Taa-daa!
Some clear spray to seal it.
Add some bittersweet and a couple of black crows...
...and the SpookEasy is open for business!

I guess I need to find some Halloween drink recipes now!
In the meantime, I now have a 2-sided sign.

    Oh wow!! I LOVE it! What a fun piece for fall and Halloween and paired with those colorful flowers it really pops. Too bad we don't live closer. I'd totally come over to hang out in your Spook Easy and stare at your pretty sign! ☺️

    Awesome sign Ann! Love that you made this two sided; I of course love the lemonade sign too, since Hubs makes me one every day!. But I can just imagine the drinks Hubs would whip up with a Spook Easy sign lol. I gotta start using my Cricut machine so thanks for the inspo!

    You know, of course, I love your spook easy sign, Ann! It has a purple frame, lol! All kidding aside, this is really so cool! And I love that it's two sided, too! But you need to have an all you can drink "Spook Easy" party! Imagine all the cocktails you can create, starting with the apple cider recipe Patti shared! Where do you live?

    Oh my Ann, this is too cute! I love those Spook Easy's, yes, you will have to create some recipes to go with your sign. I wish I had that darn Cricut conquered, but we seem to be at odds with each other. Great idea your sign it two sided too! Oh, and I am so happy to see I am not the only one who begins a project and hates it immediately, and then starts over. This one turned out spooktacular, sorry, couldn't resist! ;)

      Thank you, Cara. The Cricut is easy, it's Design Space that takes a little work, but, if you dive in and start playing with it, it gets easier! As for starting a project and then hating it - that's how I roll! Sometimes the thoughts in my head don't translate well into the actual project. That's why there are 26 letters in the alphabet: Plan A, B, C......until I find the one that works!

    Your Spook Easy sign is so cute Ann! And how clever to use the other side of your lemonade sign. Now it's dual purpose. I would love to get a Cricut one day, but I am technically challenged. Me and machines just don't see eye to eye. lol.

    I love a double sided sign, it's just a brilliant way of getting 2 for 1! This is so very different from the clean fresh lemonade side, it looks great.

    A two-sided sign is such a brilliant idea. I need to think about this the next time I make a sign for my home. Takes up less space in storage too during the different seasons. Yours turned out great!

Wine Cork Wreath

Just a note...I promised to share the wreath and picture in a previous post.  Here they are: Now, if you're anything like me, you've been saving wine corks for forever because there is a fabulous project that you will just HAVE to make with them.  The problem is, you haven't found it yet! Have no fear, your project is here! To get started, you will need lots of these: How many, you ask?  I estimate that I used between 200 and 250 corks.  You will also need a straw wreath, like this: Don't forget to remove the plastic! This next step is extremely important! Wrap some wire around the wreath and make a loop for hanging.  There is nothing worse than getting your wreath all done and then say to yourself, "Hmmm, how the heck do I hang this thing!?! How To Decoupage Dresser Drawers - With Napkins!

Welcome back!  Last week you saw a garage sale dresser transformed with paint and decoupaged napkins.  If you missed it, click here .  Today I have a little tutorial showing how it was done.  Let's get started, shall we? The drawers were sanded down to bare wood and the edges were painted black to match the rest of the dresser.  The napkins were found at the Dollar Store. Notice they are 2-ply napkins?  You only need one, so separate those layers! Iron the one-layer.  It helps when you are ready to lay it down on the wet decoupage medium.   Since the napkins were not wide enough to cover the entire drawer, I was going to have to piece them together.  These napkins also had a very definite pattern that was going to need matching, so it was time for some measuring.  I found the middle of the drawer and matched it to the middle of the napkin.  Then I marked the edges of the napkin on the edge of the drawer with chalk.  See the white (chalk) dot? No More Polycrylic for My Tables!

Behold, my newly refinished table - once again!  Yes, this is the second time this little beauty has been refinished. The table was originally refinished in 2013.  I carefully sanded, stained, and sealed it with polycrylic.  Everyone in blogland was singing the praises of polycrylic, so I thought I'd give it a try.  It went on great, clean-up was easy, and it dried quickly.   Win-Win, right?  WRONG!! After about a year and a half, I started noticing some wear on the edges of the table.  You know, the spot where people rest their arms?  As time went on, these spots actually started to feel a bit sticky and you could see them: It was really difficult to get a picture of them, but, if you look carefully where the arrows are pointing, you'll see dull spots in the finish.  We lived with it for a while, then I told my husband, "As soon as the weather gets nice, this table has a date with my sander!"
