This Little Piggie...

...is happy to see the snow melting!  We've had some warmer weather (40's) which is giving us a bit of a thaw.  I'm trying not to get too excited though since we still have to get through March!

You may (or may not) know that I collect pigs and you will find them throughout my home.  I'm not one of those crazy collectors with thousands of pigs lined up everywhere.  I have some and each one has a story and is special to me.  Someday, I'll write a post devoted to this collection; I did write about Chalk Pig and if you'd like to meet him, you can click HERE. In the meantime, let me introduce you to the newest member of the family, Pallet Pig:
With all that pallet wood, there had to be at least one pig, so I drew myself a pattern and started tracing:
I fit two on the wood I grabbed.  Here's a close-up since I used pencil for tracing:
Out came the jigsaw and the pigs were cut-out in minutes.  A little sanding, dry-brushed white paint, stain and they were almost done.  A permanent marker for the eye and some 12-gauge wire wrapped around a pencil for the tail.  A small hole was drilled and some glue was added to keep that tail in place.
Since the pig was cut from two pieces of wood, the back was strapped with pieces of paint stirrers and screwed together.
The only thing left was hanging hardware and the pig was done!

What collections do you have in your house?  Dolls?  Pez Dispensers?  Shells?  Please share, I love to hear what other people collect.

Have a great week everyone, I hope you'll pin, share, and comment!

  1. The little piggie is so cute. I especially like the tail. For some reason I am partial to bunny rabbits. Like you I don't have many.

    1. Thank you, Debra. I think that not having lots means they are special! My neighbor, at the Cottage had the sweetest primitive bunny in her garden. I always had to look twice when I'd see it...I miss that bunny!
Have a great week and thanks for stopping by.

  2. Aww, I love pallet pig! I don't necessarily collect pigs but I do have quite a few pig cutting boards, I love them! I collect white Madonna or Mary statues (they have to be pure white) and old bibles, I love the patina on the well used bibles.

    1. Quite a few pig cutting boards? You actually might collect them, Tania! LOL

Your statues sound beautiful and I certainly agree about the patina on old bibles. I found one once with the family history written in the front - so sad that it had been left behind.
Have a wonderful week and stop by again soon!

I used to collect little boxes but they've not been on display since we moved house 3 years ago! I now think I collect craft materials but I do intend to use it all one day....
