Valentine Plaque - Quick & Easy!

Are you looking for a Valentine's Day project that is easy and won't take to long to make?  I've got just the thing for you.  I made this in an afternoon and it's perfect for adding a little Valentine's Day decor to your home.

Before starting this project, let me welcome you to the Creative Craft Hop hosted by Sara from Birdz of a Feather.   If you just came from seeing Donna's Pom Pom Wreath, welcome to the Cottage.  At the bottom of this post I'll direct you to the next stop on this hop, but be sure to visit all of the other stops too for some amazing inspiration. They will all be listed.

It all began with a package of small wood planks from the dollar store.
Since it's winter and I'm in an apartment right now, stain was not an option - too smelly.  So, I used some antiquing medium on one plank.
I used a paper towel to wipe it on/off until had the color I wanted.
Wanting a  'weathered-look' I lightly brushed some white craft paint over the 'stained' wood...
...and wiped some off with a dry rag...
...until I had the look I wanted.
Two small holes were drilled at one end and a piece of black cord was added for hanging.
A strip of lace was attached to the top and bottom with hot glue.
A piece of scrapbook paper was cut, the edges were torn, and it was glued to the plaque.
A heart was cut from chipboard on my Maker and painted with red craft paint.
It needed a few embellishments:
It was attached with a few pieces of foam tape to give it some dimension.
The final touch was adding a red gem to the lower, right corner.
Time to find a spot to hang it!
Here?
Or maybe here?
Either spot on the Waterlogged China Cabinet seems to work!

I hope you'll pin, share, comment, and follow.  If you click on those 3 little lines at the top left of the blog (on the Home page), you'll see where to find me...or click on the icon below to share.

Remember, this is a blog hop and next on the hop is Terrie, sharing her Paper Cone Heart. Once you've stopped by to see her, be sure to visit all of the others for more inspiration!  Here's the list:
