It's Been "Ruff"

After the long month of April, I am happy to say I am back, healthy, and things are looking up!
Isn't that just the sweetest face?
Meet my grandpuppy, Chevy.

April started out with me flunking my annual mammogram. Without sharing "too much information", let me say it was 3 1/2 weeks of scheduling, having, and waiting for the results of further tests.  I was a wreck!  Long story short - I am fine!  My public service announcement?
Get your annual mammogram, ladies.  It's an important test!

Just a few days after the dust settled, a couple of issues came up at the Cottage.  Meet our new bathroom sink faucet knob:
My poor husband went to turn off the hot water and the knob came off in his hand.  Once again, to make a long story short, the stem is shot and we need a new one - not so easy to find with a vintage sink that has a slant where the faucet assembly is located.  We found a handyman who appreciates this bathroom and is helping us out.  The last thing we want to do is replace the sink and countertop.  Hopefully, this will be resolved this week.

Right about the same time, our beautiful vintage refrigerator (that I LOVE), started making a strange noise.  By the next day, it was grinding and I called a local appliance repairman.  He admitted that vintage appliances were not in his wheelhouse, but gave me the number of a man who had this expertise.  I immediately called him to be greeted by a message that he was on vacation until May 1st.  I left a message.
Isn't she beautiful?

That night, the fridge "ground to a halt".  We really thought it was over.  By the time we went to bed, the fridge was still holding at 40 degrees and everything in the freezer was solid.  By morning, the water I put in ice cube trays was partially frozen, but everything else was solid.  We decided to supplement with bags of ice - so far, so good!  Hopefully we will hear from the repairman soon.  I'd hate to have to replace the refrigerator, but, if we have to, we will.

We haven't done much work in the kitchen and it does need some updating (a new faucet is first on the list). Who knows what else might get done now that we're getting this ball rolling!

Stay tuned my friends, we are going to have a rainy week and hopefully, I can get some projects done.  If nothing else, I'm hoping for repairs to the bathroom sink and the refrigerator.

Have a wonderful week!

  2. Hang in there Ann - I think you may have just redefined "shabby chic"! :-) I awoke to water cascading out of my kitchen pipes a week or two ago so I feel for you!

If nothing else, these "adventures" of ours make for great blog posts!

Have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend and thanks for sharing your tale with us at Inspire Me Monday at Create With Joy!

    1. You may be right! But, water - like that - is no fun. I've had that experience as well in another house, coming through the living room ceiling from the bathroom upstairs. Never a dull moment!
Wishing you a Happy Mother's Day weekend, as well.
